Ludmila's Catholic Church in Peace Square in Prague's Vinohrady
district of Prague 2 , typical neogoticka monument built by the
19th century. The church was built between 1 888 - 1892
according to plans by architect Josef Mocker. On his ornaments
contributed by famous artists of that time, such as the sculptor
Josef Vaclav Myslbek , Anthony Walker and the painter Josef
Capek and Franz Zenisek . Within the temple were the remains of
St. Ludmily and St. Vaclava. Since 1974 the church because of
the possible construction of subway and later for reconstruction
of long closed. Formal worship, led by Cardinal Miloslav Vlk ,
in 1992 the building was reopened. Ludmila is a brick
three-aisled basilica with a transept in the shape of a cross.
Its two slim sedesatimetrove tower dominates both main square ,
but the entire Yugoslav street. |
